With the New Year comes the usual New Years’ resolutions: whether it’s to slim down, to save your money, or to shake that crack habit, Savvy is no different, heralding in both a new year and a new look. As soon as the big hand and the little hand make nice on January One, the new, and very much improved Savvy.com will be all systems go.
We’ve spent months slaving over a hot screen, rebuilding things from the ground up. In the words of Kanye, or more accurately Daft Punk, we’ve made it harder, better, faster, stronger, and dammit, sexier. We’ve kept all your old faves, while adding other functions to enhance your browsing experience. Don’t panic, let us run you through the new, and very much improved, Savvy.
What’s the same?
Despite this evolution, this will still be the Savvy.com you’ve come to love since we started in 2004. You still have your friends, your photos and all of the great content that makes you a savvier person. We’re continuing to deliver different versions of Savvy for our Australian, US, UK, and Canadian readers.
And yes, Savvy is still 100% free! (Your mum was right: the best things in life are free).
What’s different?
First off, you’ll notice a new look for Savvy’s home page and our social network, Savvy Nation.
But there’s plenty else we’re changing for the better:
- Your Savvy.com browsing experience should be enhanced by faster page loading.
- Savvy Profiles and ‘Is She Hot?’ contestant profiles will be completely integrated rather than separate.
- You can store private bookmarks of pages that you like for later reference. Bookmarks make finding your favorite ISH contestants and voting for them daily even more convenient.
- You can recommend pages to the people in your friends list.
- We’ve added the ability to delete friends if you change your mind.
- You can now also block people which prevents them from contacting you.
- The ‘Is She Hot?’ voting system has been changed to factor in not only looks but personality as well. You’ll vote by stars and the ISH score will be a composite of the two numbers that you generate by doing this. This makes it more important than ever to participate!
- Our Search for the Million Dollar Woman is prominent on our home page.
- We’re making it easy for you to quickly find ISH contestants by username alphabetically, sorted by contest join date (newest), sorted by ranking (top contestants), and sorted by country of origin.
- Our Savvy messaging system has been re-designed, and you now have the option of receiving additional notifications to your external e-mail address so you can know when someone sends you a new message or invites you to become a friend.
- You can now add A LOT more photos and even create different galleries with custom labels, which is ideal for separating your candid photos from, say, your modeling shots or pictures you’ve taken. You can even add, ahem, mature photos as long as you make sure to designate them as such so someone who chooses to filter his or her browsing won’t get offended.
- You can customise the name you want displayed across the website when you first sign up, so go ahead and use that nickname you’ve had since the fourth grade (or the one you made up, and it never caught on. Seriously, this is your chance to add suffixes like ‘terminator’ and ‘meister’ to your name)
- When managing your profile you can choose to make your profile filtered or unfiltered. Filtering removes content that has been designated as mature.
- Starting in February, you’re going to see a much greater focus on Style and Entertainment. Savvy is no longer going to be strictly a men’s lifestyle portal, but rather something that women will love as well! Hello ladies…
- SavvyTV brings you great video content, and now we’re making it more convenient to find the clips you want to watch, right from the home page.
- You can only vote for a contestant once every 24 hours, so we are adding a timer to let you know how long until you can vote for her again.
- We are restoring your ability to comment on articles that touch a nerve or touch your heart.
We’ve also listened to you and are making some other changes. These include suspending our instant messaging system for now and redefining how we integrate groups into Savvy Nation. Your feedback will help us decide how these features evolve in the coming months.
Thanks for your continued presence at Savvy. Since it’s such a good thing, invite your friends to join our virtual community. We appreciate your patience as we settle into this new house we’ve built for the future! Once you get used to it, we think you’ll agree that we’ve made some pretty major improvements.
