Five-time Grammy Award winning artist John Mayer just announced his 2008 summer tour dates featuring special guests Colbie Caillat and Brett Dennen. Tickets become available to members of Mayer’s “Local 83” fan club on April 10th and available to the public beginning April 19.
This summer tour will make more than 20 stops at amphitheatres across the US beginning in July and continuing through August (See dates below). Both Caillat and Dennen, break out artists in their own rights, were among the performers aboard the Mayercraft Carrier in February ’08.
Mayer has sold over ten million albums to his credit. Featuring pop, soul, and blues elements, Mayer’s most recent album, Continuum, showcases rich lyrics, the groove of the guitar-slinging bluesman and the vocals of the soulful crooner. From his acclaimed debut Room For Squares in 2001, through 2003’s Heavier Things, to his work with the John Mayer Trio in 2005, and now with Continuum, the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has established himself as a musician and collaborator who exceeds genre boundaries.
Colbie Caillat’s dusky vocals and laid back rhythms have earned her critical acclaim and l.6 million sales since the release of her debut album COCO last July. She is currently headlining a 20-city college tour, and has frequently cited Mayer as one of her biggest influences.
On the other hand Brett Dennen, channels folk, world, pop, and rock music into a breathtaking mix that falls easily into one category - timeless. Rolling Stone Magazine named Brett an "Artist to Watch" and his track "She's Mine" was #1 on USA Today's Playlist. The Los Angeles Times has declared: "Dennen is ecstatic and hopeful.”
Also this summer, a brand new CD/DVD & Blu-Ray package will be available featuring the performances Mayer recorded last December at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The special concert includes three distinct sets: an acoustic performance, a rare set with John Mayer Trio (John Mayer, Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino), as well as a Continuum set featuring Mayer’s full-band. This will be the first new release since Continuum became available in September 2006 and incorporates each of the elements that the five-time Grammy-winner is known for - acoustic songwriter, electric guitar slinger, bluesman, and vocalist.
