When I caught up with
Damn… Even though she’s an angel, God must have made this girl for sin.
Her body was chiseled to perfection by years of athleticism. During our interview, the Olympics were on TV. I could see in her eyes that part of Meriah wished she could compete. She said the Olympics “inspire” her to follow her own dreams.
Her “pie in the sky” dreams include more than modeling in top publications, which she’s already done. Meriah wants to do more fitness modeling, acting and have her own TV talk show. You may have seen her on her website, MeriahNelson.com, on the Benchwarmer cards, in Playboy Special Editions, or perhaps on the winning
She gave Savvy some insight into her ambitions, her attitudes about sex and her thoughts on voyeurism…
Meriah: I just came from an audition.
Savvy: How'd it go?
Meriah: Good, it was for a game show. They were looking for girls to sub when the regulars can't work. So basically, 50 girls to try out to be 2 subs.
Savvy: How do you walk into an audition and let them know that the job belongs to you, not one of those 50 other girls outside?
Meriah: I always try to be myself, and now that I know myself, it is easier.
Savvy: How do you think the Internet has opened opportunities for models? I’m sure that back before it, models who did glamour work were more limited to real-life auditions than the virtual ones of today.
Meriah: The Internet has made it possible to gain exposure, which is good. Sometimes, having a nude pay site gets thrown into another category. Without the web, I would still get modeling jobs the old-fashioned way, but I have to keep up with the times. The Internet rocks!
Savvy: You grew up just outside of
Meriah: Yes! Isn't that odd?
Savvy: Does it feel powerful knowing that as soon as you step into a room, every man wants to have sex with you?
Meriah: Yes, it does feel powerful, and as long as they’re not disrespectful, it is a good thing and doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. Boys will be boys, red-blooded and all. Sometimes, days I’m looking hot, it sucks to go to the gas station or some place like that where the guys lack class. I don’t think it is right to make girls feel uncomfortable.
Savvy: If I had your looks, I would just stare at myself naked in the mirror.
Meriah: I've heard that before. Guess what? I DO stare at myself naked.
Savvy: Wait? What?! You stare at yourself naked and...
Meriah: Look for cellulite! (Laughs)
Savvy: That isn't the answer I was fishing for, but okay. I have been a fan of your photos for a while now. I don't have a shrine to you in my basement, but I do love to look at your pictures.
Meriah: Well, there are a lot of images on my web site for you to start building a shrine.
Savvy: What's the sexiest photo shoot you've ever done?
Meriah: Ok, I am going to say I love the shots where I take it to the edge. I am the "ultimate tease" and like to take the view just up to being too explicit. Up the skirt, panty shots, hot wax dripping off my tongue to my nipple. Stuff like that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!
Savvy: I see that. Have you ever gotten aroused doing a shoot or is it all a mental inventory of which pose to do next?
Meriah: While shooting, I concentrate on making a great image. It is when I edit my pics that I get aroused watching myself.
Savvy: Not to be rude, but I've looked at your images and thought, "Why couldn't she just open that leg up a smidgen more?"
Meriah: Bingo! That's what I am going for! The mystery is sexiest.
Savvy: Your content certainly qualifies as for mature audiences, but it isn't really pornographic, is it?
Meriah: That is confusing... Porn. I never know what is what.
Savvy: I know a lot of photographers who tell girls they shoot for Playboy when it is actually just bullshit.
Meriah: Yes, I don't fall for any of that shit. At least now after learning the hard way. The people at Playboy were so professional to be around so that made me comfortable and brave. I think they need to photograph me again because I look better and I AM better now. I need to make a comeback with them! I see Savvy is working with Mystique now.
Savvy: Yes. We dig those guys at Mystique.
Meriah: So do I. I shot with them but was never chosen to be an official Mystique model. It felt like a family around them, but maybe they thought I was too skinny. I heard a rumor they thought I was. Skinny girls need love too.
Savvy: Don’t I know it.
Meriah: The "little girl with big curves" has some good assets to bring their way. I am unique and they usually like that. I am a good mix of fashion and glamour. Some slim models have no hips or boobs. I have lots! No one looks like me. I love to take care of my body and mind. I am in excellent shape. I need a fitness magazine to let me in too, dammit! (Laughs)
Savvy: Do people you grew up with understand what you do for a living?
Meriah: Some people from my high school think I am a porn star. They live in a bubble.
Savvy: Did someone actually call you that?
Meriah: I don't care. At least I was called a porn STAR. It's better than a cracked out wannabe porn star. (Laughs)
Savvy: I suppose so. Are there any images more explicit than what I've seen on your web site?
Meriah: Well, there are only a few that are out there that go beyond my comfort level, due to photographers getting those "sneaky" angles and me trusting they wouldn't. There are definitely no pictures out there of me having sex. I don't trust that many photographers now. I have no time for the assholes in this world; I have too many good people in my life.
Savvy: Any photographer who tries to trick a model just to get a better view of her poonany is pathetic. (Laughs) You don’t find the term “porn” offensive?
Meriah: No, because I am not offended by other peoples’ hangups. If Playboy, Mystique and such are considered porn, then I LOVE porn. But everyone has a different idea of what porn is. I would never do anything hardcore because it is not me, but I am not against those who do it.
Savvy: How is glamour modeling different from, say, fashion modeling?
Meriah: Those of us who model for men’s magazines and web sites are way more open-minded than those fashion/commercial models, which are generally too harsh and competitive. There are always exceptions, but the best models I’ve met are glamour models. The fashion snobs are haters. I was always too short for fashion, but I always wanted to do it. My younger sister grew taller than me and my brother is 6'6". My family is just thin. We have high metabolism. I work out to gain weight, not loose it. It is mostly just my chicken legs that make me look so thin. Tons of models claim to be my size (5'6', 110), but they must be lying if they tell ME I am too skinny. I don't lie about my weight.
Savvy: On your website, you pose in girl/girl scenarios. Are you actually into other women or is that just a put-on?
Meriah: We don't do any oral or simulated oral. I just love the sexual energy that can be created from two sexy women together. I like women but could never be a lesbian because I would never ever want to lick "it".
Savvy: I would. Why do guys have the fantasy of two hot models going down on each other? I sure don't want to watch two naked guys getting
Meriah: I would watch out of curiosity. Once.
Savvy: Really? Two guys? Yechhh!
Meriah: Open-mindedness rocks. At AVN I got a free porno of Tranny Sex. Some of the transsexuals were gorgeous! I took camera phone pictures of them engaged in intercourse and then sent them to my straight male friends. It was funny to mess with them like that! (Laughs) They were grossed out! It did not turn me on at all. It was so odd.
Savvy: Society accepts that men are going to be a wicked horn dogs that walk around with a constant hard-on. But does society give you shit for being a sexually free woman – with limits, of course?
Meriah: Yes, society is the problem. Everyone needs to be headstrong and know who they are and what they like in bed. Those who judge are the ones who have the issues. I am free and happy! Whoever's the happiest wins the game of life. If you don't use it, you may loose it, yeah? I have learned to be honest and proud.
Savvy: In your solo photos, there's implied masturbation. Do you think masturbation is a healthy act or to be avoided?
Meriah: It’s always good! You gotta know how you like it! Being comfortable with your body is so important for great sex with another person.
Savvy: Your website images imply that when stare at yourself in the mirror all day and you aren't looking for cellulite. Do you masturbate yourself or is there a guy around to take care of your needs?
Meriah: Both. Sometimes at the same time. If people didn't masturbate, they would be WAY too stressed out anyway.
Savvy: Tell us a sex tip. How can we make a woman’s toes curl?
Meriah: Every guy should learn about the G spot! He will be the Pimp Daddy of them all! Use the finger to stimulate the G spot and lick her clit at the same time.
Savvy: Can you demonstrate? (Laughs) Just kidding... You mentioned the Adult Video News event. Is that as fun as it looks?
Meriah: AVN is kind of a freak show.
Savvy: How so?
Meriah: I like those adult film actresses who are happy and free spirits, but I feel there is a lot of the bad side there too. Unfortunately, there are too many weak women in porn.
Savvy: Looking at your resume reminds me of reading Gone With The Wind for my lit class in college, yet you often talk as if you are still waiting for a big break.
Meriah: Yes, if I didn't go to college full-time, I may have been a big star by now. It gave me a late start in this career, but nothing comes before education. I had to experience that.
Savvy: I respect that. I read that you aspire to be a photographer yourself, among other things. Want me to strip naked so you can shoot me?
Meriah: (Laughs) I have a good camera and a lot of photographer friends. I have a good eye from all experiences. I love travel/cultural photography and fashion/glamour. I shoot in other countries as a hobby.
Savvy: Do you feel more comfortable posing for a woman or a man? What's the difference?
Meriah: Mostly the women photographers I have worked with are great because we see things in the same light. It is great to put our minds together. I love to see women kicking ass and living their dreams.
Savvy: I guess you don't have to worry so much about a female photographer trying to get a sneaky shot of your crotch… unless she's a lesbian.
Meriah: Unless they can make money off it. Money talks.
Savvy: Who is the lucky SOB who gets to shoot for your web site?
Meriah: Actually five really professional guys whom I trust.
Savvy: I guess if they pop a woody while shooting you, it's all over.
Meriah: They don't, that's why they are professional. Maybe they wait til I'm gone. (Laughs)
Savvy: Would you ever do a porn movie? Money talks, you said.
Meriah: I would NEVER do a porno because it is not who I am. It’s not what I love. I have to be me.
Savvy: Where do you draw the line between merely erotic and pornographic?
Meriah: Well, that's a tough question. I think the more "artsy" and "aesthetic" it is, the less pornographic it is. Definitely open legs, pink shots, sex acts, are more pornographic than sexy nude shots. I am not against anyone doing porn. I don't judge. I would just hope they are happy with whatever THEY choose for themselves.
Savvy: Damn, we keep drifting back to talking about porn. Guess I have a one-track mind today.
Meriah: (Laughs) No problem. It’s just not for me. I don’t want to show my inner “happy land”.
Savvy: Let’s talk about something completely different. What would you be doing right now if you hadn't become a model or you gave up on it early on?
Meriah: Maybe a hippy traveling the world. Some kind of job that would be fun. I could NEVER have a regular 9-to-5 job. It’s not for me... I'm too much of a free spirit. My soul needs to sail.
Savvy: Was there ever a time when things weren't going so great and you actually thought about giving up? I'm sure the competition is mind-boggling.
Meriah: No! I will NEVER give up... unless I become paralyzed or something. Then life takes a turn.
Savvy: Let's hope that doesn't happen.
Meriah: I want to do a talk show. I am improving my demo reel which shows how great I am on-camera. I will be persistent as always and keep networking and improving my skills.
Savvy: Who are some of the people you can't wait to interview when you get that talk show of your own?
Meriah: I love the funny people like Will Farrell. I want to play around with him and do a funny interview. He would be fun to improv with. You know, work off of what he says and does. Maybe I could do a beer bong with him.
Savvy: I love a girl who can funnel beer without puking.
Meriah: Oh, that's me. I am going to do travel, party and extreme lifestyle shows. Travel is my passion.
Savvy: If you could do a movie with any actor and actress, who?
Meriah: Charlize Theron, Johnny Depp, and Angelina Jolie. They fascinate me.
Savvy: Tell me, how can a guy fascinate you on a date?
Meriah: A guy can impress me by being real! Also, feeding me is a good way to my heart.
Savvy: How do you feel about one night stands?
Meriah: Only had one. Go for it if it feels right! For me, I have better sex with the person after a few times.
Savvy: Why is that? The anticipation?
Meriah: It seems like it would be better the first time, but for me, I like to get into my groove with the person.
Savvy: And how do you get into groove with someone?
Meriah: Tell him what I like and ask him what he likes, then we perfect it. You can do that the first time, but it always gets better by the third time for me.
