Deciding what goes from the craziness that is catwalk fashions into the stores and onto that body of yours truly is a painstaking process for both designers and fashion buyers. To make looking good a seamless process, Savvy Style decided to talk to United Front national sales manager and stylist, Michael Leo, to give us the low down on what the average bloke should be looking to purchase  (and what to avoid) when it comes to Ready to Wear fashions.

Who are you?
Michael Leo. I studied fashion design in Sydney about 15 years ago, and I have worked in most facets of fashion since, from styling to design; production to fashion history and marketing.

What do you do to earn a buck?

I am the National Sales Manager for 12 local and international men’s and women’s labels.

What do you make of men's fashion?

I think fashion is always what you make of it. It’s like anything: if you want to do it well you need to put a little time and effort into it. You need to research, to educate yourself and then make your decision on what you need to buy for the season ahead.

What are your top three wearable fashions for the average bloke?

You can’t go past a pair of straight-leg jeans and a t-shirt. If you’re reading this and you have no idea about fashion, do yourself a favour and see a style advisor  (not a shop assistant) at least once to work out what shapes, colours and patterns work best for you. For a style advisor, look up Alfie's Friend Rolfe on (Australia) 02 9361 0220.

What is your fashion forecast for the one thing all men should own?
A pair cool kicks (that is, shoes) Try Creative Recreation.

What is one look all blokes should avoid?
A long wig, lipstick and size 10 heel. Contrary to popular belief, this generally doesn't look good on a bloke. Maybe that and an Acubra Hat...
